Are you one of the lucky ones getting out of town for Presidents Week? If you’re en route to some sunny isle, congratulations! And if you’re traveling south over Spring Break, it’s time to start planning now!
That’s right, Easter is early this year — March 27, so it’s not too early to think about your warm-weather outfits and accessories. Here are some jewelry packing tips from the pros to help you look your dazzling best on your next tropical vacation.

Pull and Plan

Begin by doing what top stylists do: shop your closet and jewelry collection and “pull” your best outfits and accessories from last spring/summer.
Try everything on and edit the looks to decide what works best. Then make a list of the new pieces you’ll need to update your getaway wardrobe.
Once you’ve pulled and shopped, hang your outfits on a portable clothes rack (a shower rod will do), and drape each look with your jewelry and accessories. Take photos of every look so you can re-create them when you get to your destination.
Hint: Pack lightly for less stress. Think of different ways to wear the same piece of jewelry. For example, almost any necklace can be wrapped twice around the wrist to make a bracelet; and that vintage brooch can work in your hair as well as on your jacket lapel.

Silver or Gold?
To keep things simple, consider going all-silver or all-gold for this tropical holiday. You’ll be surprised how liberating this decision can be: it instantly limits your choices and helps you edit and streamline your very best looks.
Hint: Chlorine is especially hard on jewelry. If you plan on dressing up poolside, travel with your gold jewelry. The alloys in yellow gold make it more resilient than other metals to the perils of chlorine.
Real and Faux

If you’re concerned about traveling with your good jewelry, don’t be. Wear some of it on the plane or use a jewelry organizer to stash it in your carry-on.
And remember, most hotels have convenient in-room safes these days. Life’s too short to go without your good jewelry!
Hint: After you’ve made your silver/gold decision, throw in one big, bold statement piece – perhaps a faux diamond starburst pin or multi-strand “gemstone” necklace.
Make this your tropical vacation signature, something you might not necessarily wear at home.
Clean and Go
Give all your jewelry a good cleaning before you pack; after all, you’ll want to hit the ground running when you arrive. Check out this handy cleaning chart to see the best cleaners for the jewelry your own.
Hint: After you’ve cleaned your jewelry at home, pack a portable Diamond Dazzle Stik in your purse or tote bag for instant touch-ups. The pen-like jewelry cleaning wand is no bigger than your mascara – it’s a must-have for sparkling jewelry on the go.
Bon voyage!

Jewelry Organizers protect your baubles from scratching and tangling, and the separate compartments make it easy to find what you need. If you don’t want to leave your jewelry in your hotel or Airbnb, simply tuck your jewelry organizer in your beach bag or tote.
