In early August we reported on the burgeoning rainbow jewelry trend. Well, color us surprised! According to Google Analytics, “Trending: Rainbow Gemstone Jewelry” was our highest-scoring post for two months running. It also provoked more comments than any other post of the year.
To celebrate, we present “Rainbows, Part 2,” an installment of our helpful OBJ series: How to Get the Designer Look for Less. Enjoy!
Rainbows on Runways
Multicolored gemstone jewelry has been gaining momentum all year, on Instagram and in jewelry editorials. And it looks like the trend will continue. We spotted rainbow fashions and jewelry at the recent Spring/Summer ‘18 Ready-to-Wear collections in New York, London, Milan and Paris.
Too early to think spring when you’re still shopping for winter? We totally get it. The following rainbow jewelry styles will work year-round to bring much-needed color and diversity to our lives…at a price we can all afford.

Hoops
In August we featured Claudia Oddi’s Rainbow Sunray Earrings in 18K white gold with multicolored gems. They’re perfect for the holidays, but the $2,045 price tag is way beyond our reach. If you like the look, consider these multi-hued hoops in amethyst, peridot, garnet, blue topaz and citrine…all in a sterling silver frame. They’re just $155 at bluenile.com

Rings
Popular wedding/event designer Colin Cowie’s Rainbow Channel-Set Ring in 18K white gold makes a fantastic unisex wedding ring. It sells for $2,370 on bluenile.com. Check out the same style at Walmart.com, without the designer pedigree. This multicolored sapphire ring by Olivia Leone is only $78.29 in sterling silver. Stack it with other rings you love!

Necklaces
Temple St. Clair is one of the most talked-about fine jewelry designers working today. In fact, she won the 2016 GEM Award for Jewelry Design. We covet her new astronomy-inspired Tolomeo Collection pendants in 18K gold, but even the smallest size is $2,400.
Much more down to earth is the Multi-Stone Pendant Necklace (above right), available in sterling silver from Ross-Simons.com. With colorful round and oval gemstones, it retails for only $71.25.
Happy Shopping!
