How to Find the Best Fall ’18 Statement Earrings on a Budget

Nothing powers up a fall/winter outfit like a pair of statement earrings. If you buy no other jewelry this season (and I hope you do), sparkling gemstone drops or chandeliers will give you the most fashionable return on your investment. Best of all, you don’t have to spend a fortune to make a bold impression. Costume jewelry designers have taken their cues from top runway styles and Fine Jewelry collections. Here’s how to rock some of the coolest fall ’18 statement earrings on a budget we can all afford.

3-Armed Chandeliers

In case you thought chandeliers were only for evening, check out last month’s Ralph Lauren 50th Anniversary Collection, which debuted in New York’s Central Park. Loaded with patchwork velvets, Harris tweeds, nubby sweaters, and leather belts, Lauren’s American sportswear for fall features voluptuous gemstone statement earrings for night and day.

Ralph’s a master at mixing Edwardian, Victorian and Art Deco influences, like his 3-armed chandeliers (also called girandoles), which retail in the thousands of dollars. I found great examples of this luxe look from Alexis Bittar for under $150, and colorful beauties by Leslie Dansis for only $16.97 at Nordstrom Rack!

Crystal Shoulder-Dusters

I’m craving a pair of long crystal earrings like the diamond versions worn by Lady Gaga on her press tour for “A Star Is Born.” Perfect for dressy looks for the holidays, these crystal shoulder-dusters popped up on fall runways with oversized blazers and turtlenecks as well.

Fine Jewelry designer Bruno Cucinelli makes a dazzling pair, fashioned in sterling silver, for just over $1,200. But I’ll be heading to ASOS, where I found red carpet-worthy lookalikes for under $25.

Candy-Colored Stones

I resisted the gumdrop gemstone earring trend at first…it just seemed too frivolous for my (working girl) wardrobe. However, after trying a pair with my new fall coat I realized what a punch these multicolored jewels can pack.

OBJ showcased Roxanne Assoulin’s candy-colored stones last spring, only relatively affordable in the $200 range. Now BaubleBar has a version for less than $50. I bought mine at T.J.Maxx, along with a second pair to give my sister for Christmas.

Happy shopping!
