Jennifer Lopez might be the most dazzling pop star in the world, but to millions of fans, including me, she’ll always be Jenny from the Block. Born and raised in the Bronx, N.Y., Lopez, 49, has never forgotten her humble roots. In fact, she’s stated publicly that she wears her signature big hoop earrings to remind her of where she came from. Perhaps, like me, you’ve watched in awe as J.Lo’s personal fashion and jewelry style has evolved over the decades. To see her favorite jewelry looks through the years, please click here. For tips on how to get J.Lo’s jewelry style on a budget we can all afford, read on!

Bold Gold Hoops

J.Lo’s famous hoops have morphed over time from silver-tone costume styles to real gold to diamonds set in platinum. But the ones she wears most often IRL are usually gold and extra-large. Check out her gold-tone hoop earrings from the Jennifer Lopez Collection for Kohl’s, for under $10! (Remember, stylists agree that wearing hoops takes 10 years off your age, so you can’t afford not to buy a pair.)
Dripping in Diamonds

At the recent MTV Video Music Awards, J.Lo arrived on the arm of boyfriend and former New York Yankee, Alex Rodriguez, a superstar in his own right. She sparkled in diamond earrings from the 2018 Tiffany Blue Book collection, several stacked diamond and platinum bracelets, and three diamond rings.

J.Lo also chose diamonds for The Met Gala in May, wearing earrings by Schlumberger for Tiffany & Co., a rather conservative (yet expensive) design to complement her bejeweled Versace gown.

While we can’t all afford the real thing, there are more and more fabulous man-made diamonds on the market these days (I’ll tell you about them in a future post). Start with a pair of diamond studs, another J.Lo go-to, and then add rhinestone and crystal statement pieces to achieve a red carpet look.
Versace All Day

J.Lo has enjoyed a longtime friendship with Donatella Versace, the Milan-based designer who has created many of her couture gowns and on-stage costumes. At the VMAs, the pop diva not only rocked Versace on the red carpet, she chose Donatella’s creations for her performance and the after-party as well.

I loved her in Donatella’s scarf-print caftan and catsuit, with gold pendants featuring the signature Versace Medusa logo. You can find Versace fashion jewelry with this distinctive motif in better department stores, and look for affordable vintage Versace pieces on TrueFacet and 1stDibs.
