Some of the most innovative Fine Jewelry designers on the scene today live and work in London. For the past few seasons we’ve been keeping track of them for you, specifically the members of the British Rock Vault jewelry initiative. Last month, Daou Jewellery and Frances Wadsworth Jones became the newest members of the British Fashion Council’s prestigious Rock Vault jewelry group.
Curated by superstar designer Stephen Webster, the Rock Vault supports and showcases emerging British designers and brands. Daou and Wadsworth Jones join The Completedworks, Lily Kamper, Rachel Boston, and Shimell and Madden to round out the current Rock Vault roster.
About Dalia Daou
Dalia Daou, owner of Daou Jewellery, was named 2016 New Designer of the Year at the U.K. Jewellery Awards. A third-generation jeweler, Daou focuses on colorful gemstone combinations and bold, asymmetric shapes.
In a recent interview in National Jeweler, Daou said she is looking forward to displaying her work in the United States. Typically, members of the Rock Vault initiative accompany Webster to the annual Couture jewelry trade show in Las Vegas.
About Frances Wadsworth Jones
A 2008 graduate of London’s Royal College of Art, Wadsworth Jones is known for her distinctly British quirkiness and sense of humor. “Each piece combines preciousness, narrative and detail in an attempt to find some unexpected comic relief in the serious world of fine jewelry,” she explained in NJ.
This month Ana Costa, Beth Gilmour, Jacqueline Cullen, Ornella Iannuzzi, Ruifier, and Yunus and Eliza are graduating from the Rock Vault, having received a big leg-up from Webster’s newcomer’s showcase.
Several recent Rock Vault alumni have achieved retail success as well as an international following, including Fernando Jorge, Imogen Belfield and Tomasz Donocik.
