One of the highlights of the upcoming fall fashion season is the collaboration between Swedish retailer H&M and Parisian fashion house Kenzo. The Kenzo collection for H&M, or Kenzo X H&M, is scheduled to launch worldwide on November 3 in more than 250 H&M stores and on HM.com.

Consumers have wholeheartedly embraced H&M’s annual, international fashion collaborations, including its most recent partnership with Balmain (#HMBalmaination). The Kenzo X H&M collection will feature clothes and accessories for both men and women. Let’s take a closer look.

Founded in 1970
The Kenzo ready-to-wear label was founded in 1970 by Kenzo Takada, who, from his first collection, was considered a revolutionary force in the world of fashion. Current creative directors Humberto Leon and Carol Lim arrived at the label in 2011, after launching Opening Ceremony in 2002.
“We’ve had our eyes on Carol and Humberto at Kenzo for a few years. It seemed right to do the collaboration with them now,” said H&M’s creative advisor, Ann-Sofie Johansson, to Vogue.com. “It’s totally different than the Balmain one; we really like to pick different designers, to show our customers different aesthetics.”
“Balmain was glamorous and sexy, and this is vibrant, young, and fun.” Johansson added.

What to Look For
While the exclusive Kenzo X H&M designs are tightly under wraps, we can get some indication of what’s in store by looking at the label’s Fall/Winter 2016/2017 ready-to-wear runway show.
- Empire waists dominated the silhouettes in outerwear, shirts and dresses.
- Archival florals, including iris and dandelions (yes, for fall), and classic Kenzo tiger prints were accompanied by psychedelic checks and plaids.
- Colors of navy, rust, lavender and “uniform” gray fabrics of flannel, satin, velvet, faux astrakhan, corduroy and vinyl prevailed.

Will There Be Jewelry?
If past is prologue, there will be a good selection of Kenzo accessories and jewelry at H&M stores this fall. Look for Kenzo’s signature tiger motif, a dominant force in all Kenzo jewelry collections. Expect evil eye styles, which are a big part of the current Kenzo jewelry portfolio. And fresh off the Spring/Summer 2017 menswear show (which included some women’s wear), watch out for the return of the single earring, and a pair of long, dangling spirals you can share with a friend.
Can’t wait!
