It’s New York Fashion Week: Don’t Miss the Fall 2014 Collections

While many eyes are locked on the Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia this week, multitasking fashionistas are fixated on the runway reports from New York Fashion Week (February 6-13). Since last Thursday, thousands of media types, buyers, stylists, celebrities, VIPs and special guests have flocked to Lincoln Center (and a number of satellite venues) to preview the Fall 2014 Ready-to-Wear collections. In the past few years, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week has truly become a red-carpet event.

New York Fashion Week takes place twice a year: in February to preview the Fall/Winter collections, and in September for the Spring/Summer collections. While the runway shows are not about jewelry per se, fashion designers use signature jewelry pieces and accessories to compliment their newest looks. The silhouettes, colors and fabrics presented this week will influence the jewelry designs you’ll be seeing in fashion magazines and in the stores by fall.

In September 2013, more than 3.7 million viewers tuned into the live-streamed shows on the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week portal – and you can too, right now. There’s an official schedule on the site, but if you miss one of your favorite designers “live” you can access video of their show online any time.
