Congratulations to British designer Stephen Webster on winning the prestigious GEM Award for jewelry design, presented by Jewelers of America. The London-based designer, who has been creating fine jewelry for four decades, received the award on January 9 at a ceremony at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York.

Considered the Oscars of the jewelry industry, the Gem Awards recognize excellence in design, marketing and communications, and media. Webster was cited for his innovative designs, attention to detail, and fine materials, beating out fellow nominees Alexis Bittar and Todd Reed.

Kudos are in order for New York-based jewelry company Gumuchian, which was named Hall of Fame honoree in the Corporate Award category by the Women’s Jewelry Association. The honors will be presented at the WJA’s 2015 Awards for Excellence Gala on July 27 in New York.
Gumuchian fine jewelry was founded in 1979 by Anita Gumuchian, who now runs the company alongside her daughters, Myriam and Patricia. The woman-owned brand is known for its distinctive advertising slogan: “designed by women for women.”
