Fashion Month is finally coming to a close. After the Fall 2015 Ready-to-Wear shows in New York, London, Milan and Paris, the lucky magazine editors and bloggers who attended are now on their way home. Here are some Paris Fashion Week jewelry trends we observed while viewing the final shows (alas) online. Look to them for inspiration as you build your own jewelry wardrobe…and check out the links to our New York, London and Milan reports at the end of this post.
It’s All About the Brooch
Last week in Paris, Balenciaga presented one of its most elegant and original collections in years. What stood out for jewelry-watchers is the return of the brooch, in this case a bold dagger-like stickpin employed to close coats or adorn lapels.
Brooches and stickpins have been making a comeback for several seasons now…they are clearly the new collectibles. Many people are buying one-of-a-kind vintage brooches to repurpose into rings or pendants, but we suggest using a stickpin brooch for its original purpose.
Look for this to be a big trend by fall, if not before.
Front-row-fan Lady Gaga appeared at the Balenciaga show in one the fashion house’s LBDs, festooned with a killer dagger-and-crown stickpin. It was embellished with the initials “CB” for the Maison’s founder, Cristobal Balenciaga.
At Carven, the designers anchored their mod looks for fall with graphic, retro shapes. Their round black disc, reminiscent of a 45-rpm record, appeared in almost every turnout that came down the runway.
Kenzo showed bold metal and mineral bracelets, swan-like in shape, one on each hand; while Maiyet’s Fall 2015 RTW collection was accessorized with wide hammered-gold cuffs.
Lanvin designer Alber Elbaz chose a crystal pendant on a silk cord to highlight his Bohemian-Chic ensembles. Chloe showed organic-looking charms on a circular pendant, mixing gold and silver for two-toned impact.
