Every year at this time we see fashion and jewelry designers embracing nautical themes. In the summer months, nautical jewelry motifs such as anchors, chains, ropes and stripes find their way into our vacation wardrobes…and our Instagram feeds! By the 4th of July, these classic styles have usually reached their high-water mark; but this year some designers are showing them for fall and beyond. Call it Preppy, Cruise, or French Sailor style, here’s how you can get some of the best nautical jewelry looks on a budget.

Happy shopping!

Fresh Off the Runway

In May, Chanel’s Cruise Wear ‘19 collection in Paris caused quite a splash. Featuring an actual ocean liner (renamed La Pausa after Coco’s Riviera estate), the show included all manner of maritime accessories. At the same time in New York, Ralph Lauren was debuting his Resort ‘19 collection, a study in navy blue. His Spring ’18 line, still going strong, stars multicolored stripes, blue blazers with crests, and anchor and ship’s wheel hardware.

The compass and the anchor are among Pandora's most popular charms.

Pandora reports their sterling silver anchor ($19.50) is among their three most popular charms sold in the Northeast. We love Pandora’s sterling compass, too, ($38.50), one of the top three choices of their Midwest customers. Wear these nautical charms on your bracelets or layered on long chains. And try shopping at vintage stores and sites for more collectible seafaring talismans.
