Turquoise is best known as one of the birthstones for December, and turquoise jewelry is most often associated with the American Southwest.
But the enormous popularity of turquoise jewelry is certainly not limited by the calendar or place of origin.
These days, international designers are creating more beautiful turquoise pieces than ever before…in silver, gold, and metal settings.
If you’re looking for the best way to clean turquoise jewelry, you must first assess the setting material and then select the proper cleaning method.
Let’s take a deeper dive.
Turquoise in Non-Silver Settings
The best way to clean turquoise jewelry that is NOT set in silver is to use Connoisseurs Dazzle Drops Advanced Jewelry Cleaner.
Fill the rinsing container three quarters full with warm water and add 10 drops of Dazzle Drops Advanced Jewelry Cleaner. Immerse your turquoise ring or jewelry for a minute in the jar of jewelry cleaner. Use the strainer to remove the jewelry and brush gently. Use the specialized brush to get between prongs and under the settings to remove any buildup that prevents your turquoise from looking its best. Rinse your jewelry under warm water and dry with a lint-free cloth.
If your stone is glued into the setting do not immerse it fully in the jewelry cleaner. Dip the brush in the jewelry cleaner and brush your piece of jewelry. Use a small amount of water or a damp lint-free cloth and wipe dry. Do not use an ultrasonic machine.
Turquoise in Silver Settings
For turquoise jewelry in a silver setting we recommend our Connoisseurs Dazzle Drops Silver Jewelry Cleaner.
Squeeze a small amount of silver Dazzle Drops Crème onto the jewelry.
Brush with the specialized brush to get between prongs and all around the setting. If the silver is heavily tarnished you may need to repeat this step.
Fill the rinsing container three quarters full with warm water. Using the strainer scoop, immerse your jewelry in the water to rinse.
Dry with a lint-free cloth.
