Call it the butterfly effect. When Keira Knightley arrived at the Golden Globes wearing a Chanel gown in a demure butterfly-and-feather print, fashion critics were all a-flutter. While some dared to put her in the evening’s Worst Dressed category, others held that the gown is, after all, Chanel Haute Couture, and applauded the bold choice of the visibly pregnant movie star.
No matter where you stand on the dress, one thing is certain: butterflies are trending this season, in spring prints and in fine jewelry. We saw this classic jewelry motif at the Fall 2014 and Spring 2015 collections, and at this week’s Jewelers of America (JA) trade show in New York. These glittering butterflies aren’t free…but they qualify as important investment pieces for your jewelry wardrobe.
