The most important accessories at this year’s Grammy Awards were the white roses worn in support of the Time’s Up initiative. Music’s royalty gave the movement its due without sacrificing fashion and glamour; the designer jewels and outfits were as dazzling as ever. Who wore the best jewelry at the 2018 Grammys? Here are OBJ’s favorites: Win, Place, and Show.
Win: Lady Gaga
We cannot ignore the undeniable star power of Lady Gaga, whose dramatic ensemble on the Red Carpet and angelic look on-stage featured fabulous jewels by Lorraine Schwartz. Arriving early, Gaga wore Schwartz’s black diamond chandelier earrings with a lace jumpsuit and overskirt by Armani Privé. She also accessorized with a black diamond snake ring and what is rumored to be her diamond engagement ring. During Gaga’s performance viewers got a good look at her huge pink diamond, which she complemented with drop-style earrings, also by Schwartz.
Place: Camila Cabello
Camila’s Old Hollywood glamour defied the Grammys tradition of outrageous fashions. Her sizzling red silk gown by Vivienne Westwood was perfectly accessorized with diamonds by Bulgari and a Judith Leiber disco-ball bag. After the show, the “Havana” singer took to Instagram to share her inspiration with her 16.2 million followers. “I try to channel the flamenco emoji for as many events as I can,” she posted. Be on the lookout later this month when OBJ brings you: How to Get Camila Cabello’s Red Carpet Style on a Budget.
Show: Lana Del Rey
Lana took a big risk with a kinetic halo of crystal stars and a celestial-themed gown, both designed by Gucci. With her every step the halo bobbed and shimmered, and the singer-songwriter moved closer to fashion influencer status. Just for fun, we checked out couture headpieces on the uber-high-fashion website Moda Operandi. At post time MO’s $600 Aurea Botticelli headband by Taala was virtually sold out.
Our “Best Jewelry” roundup just wouldn’t be complete without Beyoncé. While the mega-star skipped the Red Carpet this year, she nearly stole the show in the front row with her photogenic family. No one could miss Bey’s spectacular past-the-shoulder diamond earrings by Hollywood’s Lorraine Schwartz. Together with a couple of diamond rings, they are said to have cost a cool $6.8 million.
