Did you see the 73rd Annual Golden Globe Awards? And the pre-show red carpet coverage on E! News? If you were jewelry binge-watching like I was, you certainly got your fill of diamonds by Harry Winston, Chopard, Lorraine Schwartz, Neil Lane, and Fred Leighton. We usually do!
Sharing the diamonds’ limelight were colorful gemstones and unusual statement pieces. Let’s take a look at the best Golden Globes jewelry of the night.
Best Diamonds Award
Without a doubt, the winning diamonds of the evening belonged to Jennifer Lopez — at least for the duration of the show and the after-parties. On loan from Harry Winston were 200 carats of world-class diamonds, including two necklaces, several bracelets, Fancy Yellow diamond earrings, and two stunning diamond rings.
Did you notice how the tail of one of J.Lo’s diamond necklaces pointed the eye directly toward her bracelets? The overall effect was dazzling Old Hollywood style.
Best Emerald Awards
Emeralds provided pops of green for red carpet A-listers and newcomers alike. OBJ’s Best Emerald Award goes to Blindspot’s Jaimie Alexander, who wore large emerald studs and a cabochon emerald ring by Lorraine Schwartz to match her bold green and black print dress by Genny.
Laverne Cox chose chunky emerald and diamond chandeliers, also by Lorraine Schwartz. And Gina Rodriguez accessorized her navy Zac Posen ball gown with emerald and diamond drop earrings by Neil Lane.
Best Sequins & Stones Award
Olivia Wilde stunned in a sheath of ruby red sequins, one of the big trends predicted by E’s Brad Goreski.
Wilde topped off her sexy dress by Michael Kors with a Bulgari Heritage Sautoir in gold with carnelian intaglio and diamonds, circa 1980.
Most Unusual Choice Award
Golden Globes presenter Bryce Dallas Howard rocked a pair of ombré orange gemstone and diamond earrings, which were a bold choice with her black and blue Jenny Packham gown.
Howard told E!’s Live from the Red Carpet that she styled her own look and bought the dress herself off the rack at Neiman Marcus. You can bet that stylists will be courting her in the near future!
I expected Jennifer Lawrence’s jewels to come from Dior, designer of her bright red cutout gown. After all, the Joy leading lady has been ambassador for the couture house for some time now. However, J.Law’s incredible diamond bib necklace was on loan from Swiss jeweler Chopard. The 156-carat diamond mesh collar was such a statement piece that Jennifer didn’t even bother with earrings. Just perfect.
