Have you seen it yet? Director Baz Luhrmann’s film for Chanel N ̊ 5 debuted late last week and it already has 3.3 million views on YouTube. The 3-minute film and accompanying TV spot star Gisele Bündchen (Mrs. Tom Brady) as a supermodel juggling her relationship, children and busy career (much like Bündchen herself). Without a word of dialogue, the Chanel N ̊ 5 opus creates a romantic reminder to buy Coco Chanel’s legendary fragrance. But for jewelry fans – especially Chanel jewelry fans — it’s Gisele’s breathtaking diamonds that steal the show.
At the climax of film, and the spot, Gisele wears a spectacular pair of one-of-a-kind Chanel diamond earrings in the shape of dangling number 5s, a diamond pendant necklace with the number 5 hanging down the back of her bejeweled LBD, and a matching diamond bracelet. The spotlight momentarily moves off the perfume and onto the jewelry, but the overall effect is cumulative—and dazzling.
With a haunting song in the background (a pop classic from Grease like you’ve never heard it sung before), it all adds up to one effective pre-holiday message: Chanel: You’re the One That I Want!
