Here’s a new feature from OBJ: occasional behind-the-scenes snapshots of tastemakers and influencers from the world of high fashion and jewelry. Longtime editor-in-chief of Vogue, Anna Wintour, is the natural choice to kick things off. Wintour’s unerring eye for design talent and “the next big thing” in designers (and cover stars) has earned her the well-deserved reputation as arbiter of style and the most important person in fashion today.
Wintour’s influence has a ripple effect that extends throughout the world of fashion and culture. Last May, New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute dedicated the Anna Wintour Costume Center. And just Wednesday, she introduced the First Lady at a Fashion Education Workshop at the White House.
While Wintour is sometimes misrepresented as a diva (see “The Devil Wears Prada”), she is actually a hard-working journalist from a family of journalists. It’s true that the runway shows don’t start until Anna arrives at her front-row seat, but it may surprise you to know she always gets there early.
As for Wintour’s personal fashion and jewelry style? The elegantly dressed editor prefers chic day dresses or skirts to pants, and she’s rarely caught without her signature jeweled necklaces worn in colorful combinations.
Oh, and let’s not forget those giant Chanel sunglasses she wears day and night!
