A Guide to Emerald Cleaners

Emerald and Diamond Ring. What would be the best way to clean this emerald ring?

We are often asked how to clean an emerald ring, as well as emerald earrings, bracelets and necklaces or pendants. Connoisseurs, the world leader in jewelry care, offers several different emerald cleaners, depending on your personal preference.

A Word about Treated Emeralds

Most emeralds sold at jewelry stores today are enhanced in some way. Emeralds are typically treated with oils or other fillers to help reduce the visibility of minor fractures and improve the apparent clarity of the stone.

In order to retain these necessary oils and fillers, Connoisseurs recommends using any one or all of these specially formulated emerald cleaners: Dazzle Drops Advanced Jewelry Cleaner, Precious Jewelry Cleaner, Delicate Jewelry Cleaner and Diamond Dazzle Stik.

Wet the Brush for Best Results

If you think your emerald has been treated we recommend that you do not submerge the emerald in the Dazzle Drops, Precious Jewelry Cleaner or Delicate Jewelry Cleaner cleaning liquid. Instead, simply wet the brush and jewelry with the cleaner and use the brush to clean without submerging your jewelry.

After cleaning, simply rinse with warm water and dry with a lint-free cloth.

Cleaning Emeralds On-the-Go

Diamond Dazzle Stik, now with a longer lasting formula, is perfect for cleaning emeralds (as well as diamonds and all precious jewelry) on-the-go. Just wet the brush and jewelry with water, and turn the end of the Diamond Dazzle Stik until the blue cleaner appears on the brush.

Use the Diamond Dazzle Stik brush to clean your jewelry between prongs and under settings. Then, rinse with warm water and dry with a lint-free cloth.

Connoisseurs does not recommend using ultrasonic machines on emeralds or emerald jewelry.
