Mini-Revolt at the Manicam on 2015 SAG Awards Red Carpet

Sunday’s 21st Annual Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards show was aglow with close-up coverage of spectacular jewelry. Several stars, however, said “no, thank you” to E! network’s annoying “Manicam,” a creepy camera-in-a-black-box that zeroes in on their manicures and rings. Good for them.

The Manicam revolt notwithstanding, there was plenty of gorgeous jewelry to see during E!’s pre-show coverage and all through TNT’s telecast of the awards presentation itself. Here are a few standouts from the 2015 SAG Awards.

Red carpet jewelry pioneer Fred Leighton was well represented at the SAGs. Jennifer Aniston, who refused the Manicam, wore an estate necklace with her vintage Galliano gown. Lupita N’yongo chose earrings from the Fred Leighton Collection of contemporary jewelry, available at Dorfman Jewelers, Boston.

Game of Thrones star Natalie Dormer stunned in earrings and a diamond “slice” ring by Kimberly McDonald. The LA-based designer, who often works with geodes, is a relatively new favorite of the Hollywood set.

These purple amethyst earrings by Chopard provided a dash of the unexpected against Julianne Moore’s green Givenchy haute couture gown. Ms. Moore, who would win the Best Actress award for her role in the film Still Alice, eschewed the dreaded Manicam. Perhaps, like us mere mortals, she just needed a manicure!
