Last week’s couture collections in Paris were a breath of spring after a sad early January. Tout le monde came out to see the likes of Chanel, Dior, Versace and Armani…and the masters did not disappoint. Front-row Hollywood A-listers included Kate Hudson and her mother Goldie Hawn, Natalie Portman and husband Benjamin Millepied, and Kristen Stewart, just to name a few. Here are some of our favorite looks from the Spring 2015 Paris couture collections. Expect to see some of them at the upcoming Grammys, Oscars…and in stores near you before long.

Who Wore It Better? Kate Hudson was snapped at the Versace show in a short version of a dress featured on the runway. Quite a coup. But while Donatella Versace accessorized her models with sculptural chokers that mimicked the gowns’ sexy curves, Kate’s tiny charm-on-a-chain necklace was underwhelming with this powerful look.

Hey There, Giorgio Girl. The jewelry at the Armani Privé show was bold, oversized and graphic. We loved Armani’s stacked black resin bangles juxtaposed against a heavenly blue maribou coat…and giant “screen-printed” hoop earrings that echoed the runway’s bamboo forest décor.

A New Erogenous Zone. At Chanel, there was an absence of jewelry but plenty of accessories, including embroidered flowers, picture hats, veils and beanies. The biggest news flash came from Karl Lagerfeld, who told Reuters: “The stomach is the new cleavage.” Yes, many of Chanel’s Spring 2015 couture looks showed a bare midriff. Look for chains and necklaces worn at the waist to start trending by spring.

Elie is Tops. According to International Vogue editor Suzy Menkes, French jewelry designer Elie Top’s first fine jewelry collection, “Mecaniques Célestes,” is inspired by the stars. His pieces’ smooth surfaces roll around to reveal hidden treasures and jeweled interiors. Top told Vogue’s top editor, “It’s all done with 3D computers.”  The luxury jewelry line launched at Collette in Paris, from $2,700 to $47,500.
