The British jewelry designer Shaun Leane started his career at the tender age of 15 as an apprentice in London’s Hatton Garden jewelry district. Classically trained as a goldsmith for 13 years, he got a big break in 1994 when he was tapped to design bespoke jewelry for the runway shows of the late Alexander McQueen.
Leane enjoyed more than a decade of collaboration and friendship with the famed fashion designer, resulting in groundbreaking jewelry designs for McQueen’s dazzling collections.
Today, Leane’s eponymous fine jewelry line combines elegance and edge, including his Hook Earring, an instant classic, and his snake-motif pieces in 18K gold. When asked what inspired the reptilian collection, Leane replied: “the perfect symmetry and complex makeup of the serpent’s vertebrae.”
